I'm sorry to say it but Americans are not exactly BLAMELESS in these attacks. Had it been Iceland or New Caledonia attacked, then fair enough but I hardly think Americans were the innocent, blameless victims of it all.
I'm in no way condoning what happened but the amount of hypocrisy and hysterical anger comming out of the country (from what I see on the media) is stupefying.
Again I'll say, I don't support these attacks but if the terrorists feel the need to blow up two of the busiest buildings in the heart of New York, taking all those lives, then it says something about the way these attackers feel about getting the US' attention.
I don't exactly believe that those involved would truly delude themselves into thinking their plans were foolproof and that they'd never get away. I don't believe that was their intent at all. It was a way of drawing attention to themselves and are probably willing to be martyrs for their cause.
Bombs and military agression is not going to quelch their spirit as long as they believe in their cause which military agression will further convince them to believe. The only way to REALLY resolve this is for America on the whole to look at themselves with a fair amount of objectivity and place blame where blame is due.
I guess there'll be a contemptuous reaction to this thread because here's me, sitting in my house away from the madness without having any losses from this. But because I'm neither American, Islamic or Middle Eastern, I'm not so much coloured in my judgement.

In America, many mistakenly believe that Ground Zero occurred at the moment the terrorists impacted the World Trade Center last Tuesday with two hijacked planes.
I believe that there are two additional ground zeros to ponder....ALL THE UNTOLD EVENTS THAT LED UP TO THE MOMENT OF IMPACT....how Corporate America has stealthfully behaved in foreign lands for the last few decades...
....and the Ground Zero our Government will create when we begin to exterminate crazy terrorists all over the world without ever redressing if any of their anger against America has any basis of reality.
I'm afraid that instead of stopping all future violence by investigation of our own Country's Corporate Action's in Foreign Lands, we are about to create death everywhere.

And how is that different from any other conflict we have ever been in?
People are going to dislike Americans until they change thier attitude a little.

It's difficult to make a case that Bin Ladin had some level of rightness in his actions.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Clearly with the money Bin Ladin has, he could have promoted numerous other ways to raise awareness about his complaints relating to American Influence on Islam.
You know, I just wrote that last paragraph, and I don't believe it for a millisecond.
I believe we are full of a Wall Street run by shareholders who only care about continuously rising shares.
I believe we are full of Corporate Posturing that sometimes employs slave labor mills in other parts of the world.
I believe we are full of a Media run by ratings only.
I know we use 25% of the worlds resources for only 5% of the population.
I don't think there is any other way to get the attention of the powerful in the United States then through violence.
What a horrible thought.
Corporate, Wall Street, and The Media were all fueling each other.
The Media hyped Wall Street, Wall Street invested in Media, Corporations merged Wall Street with Entertainment, and it was just one big circle fuck.
And it was and is out of control and growing like a fungus on a daily basis.
The institute that was supposed to put a very long leash on all of this was our own government...
....unfortunately, who contributes the most amount of money to political coffers.....the circle fuckers.
Wall Street, Corporate America, and the Media.
The crazy part in all that has happened is it seems inevitable in retrospect.
We just think our shit doesn't stink, ever.
And we are all over the world and growing.
The sad part is, people were trying to get America back on track, from within America, and they were having no luck.
Anybody see Steve Allen's Newspaper Ads promoting family television.
I respected his message tremendously. Most of younger, hipper America probably thought his message of true family television was laughable.
The undeniable fact is this, if we outlawed marketing to anyone under 18 years of age, we would have a shell of an economy.
The other sad fact is if we don't brainwash our kids to think like us while helping to grow our economy, our kids would be off getting brainwashed by an outsider like Bin Ladin.
Seems like a lose, lose proposition.
Either we market to our kids and in the process we manipulate them and "train them" to be good American Consumers, or we shield them and let them "find" some other cause we don't approve of or have control over.
This is not about war. This is about how do we not profit off of our kids and yet teach them not to be brainwashed by the Bin Ladins of the world.

We could put everyone in an isolated box, where no one can influence them. Then they will not fuel the economy, nor be influenced by terrorists.
They would just sit in the box until they were adults. And no one would need to worry about any type of conflicts.

my vote is for poisoning the water...
but then again, it doesn't take an act of war for me to think this way.

Is there any confine you can put a child in that won't feel like prison?

you could make the child think he's actually OUTSIDE of the prison while the inside of the prison really is more than the 'outside'
now who is keeping who in?
